Old Jaffa Walking Tour and Reception

Jaffa is an ancient port city thought to be one of the oldest in the world. Archaeological evidence shows that Jaffa was inhabited some 7,500 years BCE and is mentioned in both the Hebrew and Christian Bibles, Jaffa's natural harbor has been in use since the Bronze Age. Jaffa has an extensive history that includes multiple conquests and cycles of destruction and reconstruction. Jaffa is historically, culturally and anthropologically rich, and offers a wealth of things to do and experience.
The tour will depart from the David Intercontinental Hotel and participants at the tour will walk to Jaffa along the paved beachfront boardwalk. On this walking tour you will view some of the historical and archaeological sites, walk through the picturesque alleys of the artists’ colony and at the end of the guided tour (at 20:00)all participants will gather at Kikar Kdumim for a “Jaffa style” reception.

Participants may stay in Jaffa for dinner (own expense) or return to Tel-Aviv on their own (by taxi, public bus or walk back).

Gala Dinner & Folklore Show (Optional)

Departure: 19:30 from the David Intercontinental Hotel (1) and Metropolitan hotel (2)
(1) For participants staying at the David Intercontinental and Dan-Panorama hotels.
(2) For participants staying at the Metropolitan, Deborah, City and Mercure hotels.

Enjoy a festive dinner to be followed by a song and dance folklore show, which will take place at the Caliph Night Club, offering a unique oriental atmosphere.
The Caliph Night Club building dates back to the Ottoman Empire period.  It is located in the Old City of Jaffa, adjacent to Tel Aviv. The building was once a soap factory and in the 1960's was established as a night club, the draw card for the dazzling night life in Tel Aviv and surroundings.
Price: US$ 80 (~ €62) per person.

Tour C: Haifa & Zichron Ya’akov

Monday, July 8, 2012 (09:00-16:00)
Departure: 09:00 from the David Intercontinental Hotel (Symposium Venue)
Drop off at end of tour: At conference hotels in Tel-Aviv.

Drive north along the coastal road to Haifa, the metropolis of the north for a scenic view of city, the port. Visit the world famous Bahai Gardens, and the Stella Maris 19th century Carmelite Monastery located on the slopes of Mount Carmel.
Continue to Daliyat el-Carmel a colorful Druze village high on the slopes of Mt. Carmel that offers wonderful hospitality for lunch. Return via Zichron Ya’akov, located on the Carmel mountain range overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.  Zikhron Ya’akov was founded in 1882 and was assisted greatly by Baron Edmond de Rothschild, This picturesque town attracts many visitors who come to enjoy the pedestrian road with its many quaint and charming restaurants and coffee shops, beautifully designed stores, art galleries, unique artists' studios and workshops as well as to visit the historical sites.
Lunch included. 
Note: The Tour will operate with a minimum of 15 participants.
